About This Book
This is part 5 of the History of Islam series by Maulvi Abdul Aziz, and it is devoted to Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who founded the Umayyad caliphate. His rule lasted close to twenty years. The book describes it as a time of general peace and prosperity inside the Muslim lands, while abroad his rule was just as successful and the borders of Islam spread in every direction.
The author wrote with young readers in mind. His stated hope is that the book will help them form a personal connection with the pious early generations and encourage them to commit sincerely to the Book of Allah and the way shown by His Messenger (peace be upon him), which those generations left as a shared heritage.
