The Valley Came Alive is an abridged English translation of the part of Ibn Kathir's Al-Bidayah wan Nihayah (The Beginning and The End) that deals with the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Al-Bidayah wan Nihayah, by Abu Al-Fida 'Imad ad-Deen Isma'eel bin 'Umar ibn Kathir, is one of the best-known classical works of Islamic history, and this volume draws out its biography of the Prophet as a single, readable book.
The account follows the events of his life in order, drawing on a range of historical and traditional sources. Alongside the narrative of events, it gives attention to his character, his conduct with people, and the qualities that make him a model for Muslims.
