About This Book

The Essential Pearls and Gems of Ibn Taymiyyah is a selection from the writings of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, chosen by Dr. Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahman al-'Arifi. Ibn Taymiyyah left a very large body of work. This book picks material from it and presents it in a form that general readers can follow, as a way to get to know the scholar and his thought.

Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 1328 CE) is counted among the major scholars and reformers of Islamic history. He lived in a time of turmoil and called Muslims back to the Qur'an and Sunnah, and to the way of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the early generations, the Salaf. He wrote many books, often in difficult circumstances, including works that examine the arguments of the Muslim philosophers and of the Batini and Rafidi groups. The aim of this selection is to make his ideas accessible to readers today.
