This booklet asks whether the Qur'an, which Muslims believe to be entirely of divine origin and a source of guidance for all people, holds up when compared with established scientific discoveries. The author states that his aim is to give an objective analysis of that belief.

The introduction first considers what counts as a miracle and why such claims need careful checking, using the example of a publicized "miracle" reported in an Indian newspaper that turned out to be a stunt. It then argues that a book claiming divine origin is itself claiming to be a miracle, and that such a claim should be verifiable by the standards of any age. The booklet goes on to examine the Qur'an on that basis.
