Currently, there is a dire need for Islamic education material in school incorporating the subject in English. Looking at this, Darussalam has taken an initiative to publish an Islamic Studies series which covers all the grades, from grade 1 through grade 12.
All the major areas of Islamic studies have been covered in this series,: tafseer, hadeeth, tawheed, fiqh, seerah, and general etiquette relating to different areas and situations. Every effort has been made to ensure that the material presented in this series is genuine. Most of the terms presented in this series are in their original Arabic script, given the importance of Arabic Islamic terms. This terms have been presented with the transliteration and the translation of their meanings. The same applies to supplications which have to be memorized in their Arabic version. The goal is to help the reader read the original text and understand their meaning. Exercises are given at the end of each lesson, which cover questions pertaining to the lesson.
A remarkable feature about this series is the colorful artwork used in it. It has a great appeal on the minds of the young reader. It is certain to attract the attention of children, stimulate them, amuse as well as educate them.
The goal of this series is to make the student familiar with the teachings of Islam in every aspect: beliefs, practices and moral conduct. This series fills up the void in this area which has long been neglected.
The present work was initiated by an expert in the field of education, Maulvi Abdul Aziz, MA. English literature. He held different posts in the field including that of Senior Administrative Officer in the Department of Private Education, Ministry of Education, Dubai, UAE, from 1982 to 2002.
This series has also been made possible with the informative suggestions of a number of people, especially Al-Arabee Ben Razzouq, College of Languages and Translation, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University, Riyadh, who undertook the painstaking effort to check the genuineness of the material presented in the series, proofreading the text as well as adding references to certain quotations from the Qur'an and the hadeeth. A special mention also needs to be made to Sheikh Abdul-Qawiy Luqman, Al-Madeenah University graduate, for his interesting suggestions and to Mr. Zulfiqar Mahmood who conscientiously applied his expertise in the field of graphic design to produce the series in a superb shape.
