About This Book

This is a complete edition of Mishkat al-Masabih ("A Niche for Lamps") in three hardbound volumes. It gives the Arabic text of each hadith with a translation in Urdu by Abu Anas Muhammad Sasorkuhri. A full description in Urdu follows below.

About the Collection

Mishkat al-Masabih was compiled by Imam Wali ad-Din Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Khatib at-Tabrizi, who died in 741 AH (1340 CE). He took an earlier selection, Masabih as-Sunnah by Imam al-Baghawi, and expanded it. The result holds roughly 6,000 hadith chosen from the Six Books, the Musnad of Imam Ahmad and other sources.

Because it covers nearly every area of Islamic belief, jurisprudence (fiqh) and virtues, the collection serves as a broad single reference for hadith study. This first edition runs to 2,245 pages across the three volumes and is printed on high-quality paper.
