Unity & the Abandonment of Parties combines two pieces. The first is the treatise on the unity of Muslims by Shaykh Saalih Fawzaan ibn Abdullaah al-Fawzaan, which calls Muslims to unity and to leaving partisan groupings. The second is an appendix titled Democracy: a Modern Day Cause of Disunity.

The compilers explain that the appendix grew out of a study they prepared on democracy, based on the rulings of Imaam Muqbil ibn Haadee al-Waadiee and his students. It argues that democracy is not part of Islam and discusses ideas the compilers regard as foreign to Muslim societies, including their critique of groups such as the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen and Hizbut-Tahreer for promoting them.
