The Illustrious Women of Islam from the First Generation gathers biographies of the women of the earliest Muslim generation. Its material is drawn from two respected works of Islamic history: one by Imam adh-Dhahabi and one by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani.

The first part presents accounts of the women closest to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The second part is a biographical reference arranged alphabetically, so readers can look up individual women by name.
