About This Book
This first volume of The Book of Marriage comes from Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen's explanation of Bulugh al-Maram, the well-known collection of hadith on legal rulings compiled by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. The Shaykh takes the hadith on marriage one at a time and draws out their meanings and lessons.
For example, he explains the hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah that a woman is married for four reasons: wealth, lineage, beauty, and religion. He discusses what is permitted in each of these motives and why the Prophet (peace be upon him) directed people to give priority to religion and piety.
