This book is a biography of Sufyaan Ath-Thauree (Sufyan ath-Thawri), may Allah have mercy on him, presented under the heading A True Mountain of Knowledge, the Leader of Believers in Hadeeth. It describes a scholar who loved acquiring knowledge and spreading it, and who revived parts of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that might otherwise have been forgotten.

The book also shows the personal side of his life. He fled from fame and popularity, yet became one of the most respected scholars of his time, and his life is presented as an example of piety, worship, humility, fear of Allah and repentance.
