The Metamorphosis of a Muslim is the autobiography of Lena Winfrey Seder, who grew up in a loving Christian family in rural Virginia. As a young woman she was drawn to worldly success, but unanswered doubts about her religious traditions led her to search for the truth, and that search ended in Islam.

The book moves back and forth through the key events and places of her life, before and after she became Muslim, using a series of flashbacks. She explains what attracted her to Islam, how the decision affected her closest relationships, and shares personal stories and advice on remaining patient through hardship.
