This is the hardback edition of The Meaning of the Holy Qur'an, the English translation and commentary by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, presented with the Arabic text. This revised edition keeps his extensive running commentary, now revised and clarified to avoid misinterpretation, and adds an index.
The revision also updates the presentation for today's readers. Arabic numerals replace Roman numerals, surah names are transliterated, juz divisions are marked, and the Arabic text in Madinah script has been newly reset. Islamic terms are used more consistently, such as "Allah" in place of "God" and "Messenger" in place of "Apostle". The book is also available as a large paperback and a small flexi-cover edition.

About the Translator
Abdullah Yusuf Ali was born in 1872 in Surat, India, and memorized the Qur'an as a boy. He was admired for his command of English, lived for many years in London, and served as dean of the Islamic College in Lahore. His translation and commentary took about three years to complete. He died in London in 1953.
