About This Book

Imam Ibn Majah (209-273 AH) is the compiler of Sunan Ibn Majah, one of the six major hadith collections. This biography places him in the Abbasid era, a time when new intellectual currents were influencing writing about Islam, and describes his concern with preserving the religion during that period.

It covers his travels to verify hadith, the many teachers he learned from and the students who learned from him, and the praise later scholars gave him, including his reputation as the leading hadith scholar of Qazwin in his time and his knowledge of tafsir.
