About This Set
History of Islam was originally written in Urdu by Akbar Shah Khan Najeebabadi in the early twentieth century, before the partition of the Indian Subcontinent. In concise form, it presents the events of Islamic history as recorded by major Muslim historians such as at-Tabari, Ibn al-Athir, al-Mas'udi, Abul-Fida', Ibn Khaldun, and as-Suyuti, and draws on authentic hadith collections for the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Before translation, the Urdu edition was revised by Safi-ur-Rahman Mubarakpuri to check its authenticity. The English translation was prepared by the Translation Department of Darussalam, with care taken over the names of people and places.
