Ce livre est le premier volume de la traduction française du Tafsir Ibn Kathir, une série prévue en dix volumes. Le Coran étant la source première des enseignements de l'islam, en comprendre correctement le sens est nécessaire à tout musulman. Le tafsir d'Ibn Kathir compte parmi les commentaires du Coran les plus connus et les plus reconnus. On y trouve des hadiths, des éléments d'histoire et les explications des savants.
Il s'agit d'une version abrégée publiée par Dar-us-Salam, dont l'éditeur a écarté les hadiths non authentiques. Ce premier volume couvre les parties (juz') 1 et 2, de la sourate Al-Fatiha jusqu'au verset 252 de la sourate Al-Baqara.
Because the Qur'an is the primary source of Islamic teaching, understanding it correctly matters to every Muslim, and Ibn Kathir's tafsir is one of the most widely used explanations of it. The commentary draws on hadith, history, and the explanations of scholars. This abridged edition from Dar-us-Salam states that it leaves out narrations that are not authentic.
