Background

After its first Seerah conference, held in Pakistan in 1976, the Muslim World League announced a worldwide competition for a book on the life of the Prophet. Manuscripts arrived from many countries in several languages, and a panel of scholars awarded first prize to this work. The prizes were presented in Makkah in 1399 AH (1979 CE), and the book was later published by the Muslim World League.
