ADAM: Between Evolution & Revelation is a qualitative study by Ibrahim Elshahat on the origin of man. It examines the story of Adam through both scientific and religious approaches, setting out the main theories and comparing them with the account given in religious texts.
The study gives a critical analysis of the Theory of Evolution and of theistic evolutionary approaches, with a focus on the Islamic perspective and on how the account of Adam in the Qur'an and Sunnah should be interpreted. The author concludes that attempts to read the religious account of Adam through an evolutionary lens do not succeed, and he argues for the miraculous creation of Adam as described in the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.
