Research Summary

q       Raising a concern that the sacrifice and efforts of the U.S. government and the military in Iraq operations have not been understood and appreciated by a great majority in the Middle East terrains, the author tries to unravel the true perspectives regarding the operations.

q       Voicing out freedom, democracy and opportunity for the Arab world to embrace liberty, the U.S. government has sacrificed over 3,000 of its military personnel and spent hundreds of billions of dollars in the Iraq operations, finally feeling happy that there are chances for something better than the worst of the past.

q       However, the entire event has not been able to win the appreciation of not only the majority in the Middle East, but also many of the Americans who resent that all the efforts have been wasted for unworthy people.

q       On one hand, the record of brave Iraqi reformers is encouraging and reassuring. It helps the U.S. in future security concerns and adopting a new moral posture that respects Arab self-determination.

q       On the other hand, several violent upsurges and anti-American demonstrations in the Middle East following the operations make the Americans resent that the U.S. is blamed for self-inflicted misery.

q       The author recalls the genuine efforts of the U.S. government in working for the betterment of Muslims in Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Indonesia, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Somalia.

q       The article brings to surface the sense of imbalance that prevails everywhere, including the worst sort of racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-Christian hatred is broadcast and published in state-run Arab media.

q       The author mournfully highlights that when the divisive and costly war continues venturing to give freedom to the Arab Muslims, the public is becoming increasingly tired of Middle Eastern Madness in misinterpreting the genuine U.S. intentions.

q       It is essential on the part of the U.S. government to win the hearts and minds of Americans with an adequate orientation to the issue. Above all, the cooperation and joint operations of the civilian and military in Iraq should openly appreciate the U.S. in addition to revealing an Arab desire to be free of the past.
