ð     Egypt is located in the north east of the African continent

ð     The capital city is Cairo.

ð     Other known and popular cities are Alexandria, Aswan and Luxor. 

ð     The Nile, one of the world's great rivers flows through Egypt.

ð     The population of Egypt is estimated around 79 million.

ð     Sunni Islam is Egypt's main religion. Besides, 10% of Egyptians are Coptic Christians. There are also a small number of Jews who live in Egypt as well.

ð     Egypt’s area is approximately 386,560 square miles),

ð     Large areas of land form part of the Sahara Desert and are sparsely inhabited.

ð     Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization. Some of the world's ancient monuments, including the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza are located in Egypt

ð     Egyptian currency is the Egyptian pound.

ð     Official language is Arabic. The local Arabic accent is called “Masri”

ð     Egypt's economy depends mainly on agriculture, petroleum exports, and tourism. A very large number of Egyptians work abroad, mainly in Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf. These Egyptians send money back home and is a major driver of Egyptian economy.
