  Notes on Islamic Clothing
One of the problems with having a Muslim persona is that it is often difficult to get information on garb. In part this is because most people writing in English are more interested in medieval Christians than in medieval Muslims; costume books rarely have much that is useful for our purpose. In part it is because Sunni Muslims regard the making of pictures of living creatures as forbidden by religious law. Fortunately, the injunction was not always obeyed.

Islamic Clothing ... Why do Muslims dress in distinctive, modest clothing?

Muslim women are often asked:  "Why do you wear that scarf?"   "Aren't you hot?"  "Do the different colors mean anything?"  "Why do some women cover their face, but not others?"   "Do men have a dress code as well?"

Proper dress for Muslim

No special clothing is worn by worshippers for religious ceremonies. There is no special dress for the muezzin who calls to prayer, nor for the imam who leads prayers in the mosque and delivers a talk or sermon. Islam tends to emphasize the direct relationship of each believer to Allah rather than elaborating roles for human intermediaries

I am a new Muslim - What can I wear (in Islamic Clothing)?

The word hijab in Arabic means a barrier, cover or veil, and it's main purpose is to reduce potential agitation, desire and attraction between men and women who are not partners or not intending to be partners. There is also an inner hijab which relates to modesty, lowering of the eyes and being conscious not to arouse the interest of the opposite sex. When inner hijab is accompanied by outer hijab then the purpose is complete.

Muslim and Middle Eastern Islamic Clothing, Jewelry, Make-up

Clothing worn by all people is influenced by the climate, available materials, and cultural traditions which include social status, group identity, and religion.

Climate: People living in a desert environment often covered up in loose clothing to protect themselves from the sun and to keep cool. White clothing was coolerMalfunctioning Wardrobes than dark clothing in the sunlight. And head coverings were important for protection against the sun, too.

Fabrics: Five main fabrics were available for clothing. Cotton was a cool fabric. In winter or in cold environments, clothing was commonly made of wool. Camel hair was also woven into clothing for cold weather. Some clothing was made from plant fibers called linen. Silk was imported from China or Persia and was very expensive, so only the rich could afford it.

  Malfunctioning Wardrobes
It is not mandatory to wear Islamic clothing. As long as they are loose and they fit a couple of other requirements, it’s all good. Each Muslim country has their own type of clothing so we can’t say that this one type of clothing is Islamic to the exclusion of all the other types of clothing. So I am not advocating that it is Fardh and mandatory to don Islamic clothing.
