When this British airline released a policy in August 2005 that aside from wearing the traditional abaya, "no matter what rank", some female employees were disgruntled. One employee that was particularly vehement in her opposition called the move "culturally illiterate". Ultimately though, it was ruled that it was within the airlines discretion to enforce the policy, it was to be treated as part of the uniform.
